Are we all lost stars
Trying to light up the dark?
Retrospective Note 2019: One of Jessica’s favorite films is called “Once”, directed by John Carney. As soon as we found out he was coming out with a new film, “Begin Again”, we just HAD to see it, and man, we absolutely adored it. A story about 2 people with a heart for music, one a singer-songwriter, and one a producer, both dealing with their own life struggles and failures, and using their unfortunate events to write and record an album on the run. It was an absolute delight, and we almost started writing our own music because of it (we should still give that a shot)!
Ask her how she knows there's a God up in the heavens
She said His mercy is bringing her life again~ 💙
Retrospective Note 2019: Growing up, I always knew there was a certain weight to this song, but I never truly understood it, until around this time in 2014, when conversations about sexual abuse began to become more apparent, at least to me, for the first time. Things like this were just never talked about, and even with music like this song in my hands, I never felt brave enough to ask about it, scared of getting in trouble for wanting to discuss such a “taboo” topic. A truly sad notion, we still see play out today.
Anyways, I started seeing friends open up about it around this time in 2014, and one friend in particular, had that abuse come from her father. A horrible, horrible reality, that got me listening to this song again, and it finally clicked.
That particular individual who experienced that abuse from her father, is named Jennifer Greenberg, and she recently wrote a novel about that experience titled, “Not Forsaken”, about how her faith in Jesus Christ brought her healing in so many ways, and she wants to share that healing with those who are struggling with abuse right now. No matter what you’ve experienced, there is healing to be found in the arms of Jesus. I hope Jennifer’s words can show you that love. If you need someone to listen to your story, Jennifer's DMs are open at the time of writing this. She'll lend a good ear.
Bruises on the fruit
Tender age in bloom~ 💙
Was totally just driving home from work after a long lunch shift with the windows down and this song on blast, when a couple of cool girls in a Mustang cruised next to me and sang along. It was an unforgettable good vibe.
A time for peace
I swear it's not too late~ 💙
