I was sitting there in a comfortable chair
And that was all that I needed...
A strange, and funny song about a guy who is never satisfied. Lots of great tracks on this record, but this one stands out for its unique storytelling style. Love it.
Let's flip the track
Bring the old school back~ 💙
I'm falling, falling
Down on my knees
Darling all I want is to be free...
Retrospective Note 2023: Was feeling particularly stressed out at this period in my life. Work was starting to weigh on me from all the judgement I was dealing with as a janitor. Not to mention the overarching feeling of uselessness from things just not working out like I’d hoped in terms of my goals and dreams. As the chorus states, all I wanted was to be free. Whatever that meant I wasn’t sure, but I definitely wanted to be far away from the problems I was facing. It would happen eventually, but not without stumbles along the way, and not without taking the time to reconcile and heal regarding past traumas. It would take awhile before I figured all that out (like, up until 2020 to figure it all out), but thank God I eventually did. I’m much better for it, and now, I breathe easy, and finally feel truly free for the first time post-high school.
Saddle up your horses
We've got a trail to blaze~ 💙
Retrospective Note 2023: I remember choosing this song feeling excited for the life that was ahead as me and my now wife approached our upcoming marriage. There's nothing greater than going through life with someone by your side. 10 whole years now since I first met her. 10 whole years. A lot has happened over that period of time, and she's been with me through all of it. I wouldn't have it any other way, and still, there is so much trail to blaze. This truly is a life like no other.
I'm serious about the stand I'm taking
Serious about the choice I'm making
Serious about the things that I believe~ 💙
Rediscovered this little nugget from my childhood. Was reliving a strange little Mary Kate and Ashley video game called “Sweet 16 - Licensed to Drive”, a not so good Mario Party clone haha. We played the crap out of it as kids though, and I remember loving the music, with this one in particular being my favorite. Crazy thing is, I JUST realized that Joy is the other half of mine and Jess’ favorite folk duo, The Civil Wars. That blew my mind. I’ve been listening to Joy’s fantastic voice longer than I realized haha. The game had lots of unknowns featured (it came out in 2002), so congrats to Joy for making the big break!
